When to Upgrade Firmware
The following firmware updates are mainly for Mac OS X 10.5
"Leopard" users. However, this firmware is also compatible with Mac
OS X 10.4. If your existing FirmTek driver is working well with your
current version of Mac OS we highly recommend not upgrading. This
falls under the heading, "If it's not broken don't fix it". While
FirmTek tries to make every new driver release better than the last,
there is always a chance that a new firmware upgrade may actually
cause an issue with some configurations.
The 5.3.1 firmware version posted below corrects
a Leopard wake on sleep issue. 5.3.2 adds compatibility for Oxford 926/936 enclosures.

FirmTek System Cache Cleaner
FSCAPP is a small application designed to clear the System cache of driver information. It can be used to purge old driver information from Mac OS X after installing a new FirmTek driver. A restart is required after using this tool. Each firmware update archive provided on this page already includes the proper tools and installation instructions for completing an upgrade and does not require a separate download of FSCAPP. This download is simply available for trouble shooting issues where it appears that an old driver may still be present in the cache and causing compatibility issues.

PowerMac G4 Firmware Alternative
PowerMac G4 users that are experiencing problems with firmware version 5.3.1 may want to install version 5.1.3. Version 5.1.3 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5 and may work better with some PowerMac G4 configurations. Users with multiple FirmTek cards mounted in a single computer must install the same firmware version on all cards to avoid conflicts.
